Starting in the late 1990s, nearly 4 billion people around the planet r have gained broadband connectivity through ADSL, 3G, 4G, 5G and fiber services. Despite impressive progress, in 2021 another 3 billion in outlying, hard-to-reach areas still lack reliable broadband - i.e., still underserved.
