Forsway, a leading Swedish provider of innovative satellite software and hybrid satcom terminals today announced a new partnership with Zinwell. A leading provider of digital cable, satellite, wireless equipment, 5G and IoT products and more, Zinwell has been chosen as Forsway’s hardware R&D and manufacturing partner for its next generation platform of Forsway F-60 satellite terminals.
Edvin Lindkvist – CTO – Forsway
The new F-60 model is intended for both fixed installations and connected vehicles, where Forsway is currently involved in an ESA funded development project. The Zinwell partnership is viewed as the start of a long-term relationship where the new hardware platform will be designed to target and serve several unique user groups.
Based on a combination of innovations from Forsway and Zinwell, the new Forsway Odin F-60 terminal will be launched with advanced capabilities for satellite reception and routing, including DVB-S2X and GSE, high performance networking, embedded LTE, and expandable internal storage.
“Forsway’s prime criteria was finding a partner open to address evolving new challenges within the satellite industry and to harness the opportunities,” says Edvin Lindqvist, CTO at Forsway.
“The benchmark Forsway hybrid approach to satellite connectivity demands a highly skilled R&D team, continues Edvin Lindqvist at Forsway. We have found the right combination with resources from Forsway and Zinwell to develop and create viable, robust, cost-efficient satellite terminal solutions for connectivity and video for the underserved and those still lacking broadband connectivity.”
According to Forsway, making satellite broadband connectivity affordable in underserved markets is a significant challenge requiring not only affordable broadband from satellite operators, but also a focus on forward-leaning hardware innovation to fulfil operator expectations. The need for high quality state-of-the-art design while prioritising cost-efficiency is crucial to meet customer demand.
Chester Wu, VP, Sales Division II explains, “Zinwell is very pleased to join a long-term cooperation with Forsway to address the challenges of creating a next generation of dynamic, robust hybrid satellite terminal solutions at an affordable price, not yet achieved by the biggest players in the market. Together we have big ambitions, and the right expertise to take the challenge.”
“Reducing the connectivity divide in the majority of under-connected markets cannot be achieved with costly terminals as offered by some of the newest global headliners,” continues Edvin Lindqvist of Forsway.
Cultivating broadband access for the critically underserved
Forsway taps an innovative hybrid model provided by combining satellite broadband and existing terrestrial infrastructure to make satellite broadband internet solutions affordable to the 4 billion lacking reliable connectivity globally, enabling growth and access to critical services.
Forsway’s unique hybrid connectivity concept is a benchmark for connecting underserved regions in both advanced and emerging markets, cost-efficiently.
