Technology providing hybrid connectivity can deliver highly cost-efficient broadband in rural regions across Africa together with leading satellite operators, says Forsway.
Forsway, a global specialist of solutions for combining satellite with existing terrestrial technologies to provide broadband to underserved regions, has announced its highlights for AfricaCom 2018, November 12th-15th, Cape Town International Convention Centre.
The technology provider will spotlight solutions developed to launch cost-efficient broadband internet services for hard-to-reach regions that are lacking reliable internet access. Features include the robust, high performance Odin F-50 hybrid satellite router and Freya F-55 hybrid terminal with the functionality of a modern TV/PVR receiver. The Forsway technology is enabling rapid roll-out of services and reduced investment in infrastructure in the region.
Tobias Forsell, CEO of Forsway is participating in a feature technology panel together with other industry leaders Broadpeak, Quadrille, Sentech and Newtec.
Speaking about the topic, Forsell said: “Broadband access will help drive growth and prosperity in rural regions. To bridge the digital divide and connect rural regions across the African continent, new low-cost broadband solutions are needed. To meet demand of content-hungry consumers, tapping the benefits of internet over satellite, Forsway is providing innovative hybrid technology that uses considerably less satellite capacity than VSAT and reduced total cost of ownership for operators. We are currently involved in a number of deployments in the region with leading industry partners.”
Forsway providing solutions to help solve a critical socio-economic challenge Billions of people around the globe still lack affordable and reliable internet access. Forsway’s unique hybrid technology combines existing infrastructures (mobile networks, satellite) to enhance or provide connectivity, enabling cost-efficient broadband for regions grappling with insufficient infrastructure. Forsway technology fosters robust, easy to deploy and maintain solutions with low investment in infrastructure.
